Both the landings at Detroit and & Amsterdam were REALLY rough!
I am sitting at the gate in Amsterdam [Schiphol] waiting for the flight down to Kilimanjaro.

It was just a few moments ago that I realized that I left my ATM/Credit card at home! I had decided to just use my small bill fold & left the card in my wallet. I had $400 in cash at the beginning of this trip - I’ll have to be careful with it. I think I’m going to try to catch a nap now.

Additional notes: The plane from Detroit to Schipol Airport, Amsterdam had screens in the back of each seat so I could pick whatever content I wanted. They provided a large selection of movies and even video games. I can’t remember what movie I watched, I do remember watching some TV (American sitcom) and the GPS position of the plane. At one point, we had a very strong tail wind going and our ground speed was phenomenal! Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what it was, though.

Introduction

The following is a transcription of my travel journal from my January, 2007 journey to Moshi Tanzania to volunteer at KIWAKUKKI (KiSwahili acronym that means “Woman in Action Against AIDS in the Kilimanjaro Region”)

My objective was to go and do some computer training. What I ended up doing was slightly modified. I knew this from the onset when I initially planned on going and I went there knowing that my plans were not necessarily God’s plans.

I have to remark that living joyfully in whatever one does is a great blessing and I spent my entire time there, regardless of what happened, in a state of joyful mindfulness of the experience.

I was, and continue to be truly blessed.

There are additional comments throughout the journal. These were written during the transcription and are basically afterthoughts.

Also, you will find links throughout the journal. I included these to add some depth to the experience.
